How to distinguish heavy steel structure from light steel structure?

There is indeed no uniform standard to determine the structure of heavy steel and light steel structures. Experienced designers or project managers often cannot fully understand, but we can comprehensively consider and judge some data:
1. The lifting weight of the workshop: greater than or equal to 25 tons, it can be regarded as a heavy steel structure.
2. Steel consumption per square meter: greater than or equal to 50KG/M 2. It can be regarded as a heavy steel structure.
3. The thickness of the steel plate of the main component is greater than or equal to 10MM, and the light steel structure is used less.

 


4. In addition, there are some reference values: such as cost per square meter, maximum component weight, maximum span, structural form, eaves height, etc. The above can provide empirical data when judging whether a plant is heavy steel or light steel. Of course, many buildings now have light steel and heavy steel. But some we can say with certainty are heavy steel: such as petrochemical plant facilities, power plant plants, large-span stadiums, exhibition centers, high-rise or super high-rise steel structures.
5. In fact, there is no heavy steel in the national specifications and technical documents. In order to distinguish light-duty residential steel structures, ordinary steel structures can be called ordinary steel. Due to the wide range of ordinary steel structures, which can include various steel structures, regardless of the size of the load, or even many contents of light steel structures, the technical regulations for light residential steel structures only stipulate some more specific contents according to their light characteristics, and the scope is limited to Single door frame.


6. Light steel is also a vague term, and there are generally two understandings. 7. It can be seen that the difference between light steel and heavy steel is not the weight of the structure itself, but the weight of the envelope material, but the concept of structural design.

 


Steel structure installation note:
The steel components are prefabricated and assembled on the steel platform according to the installation sequence and process requirements to ensure the welding quality.
The distance between the splicing seam of the section steel splicing flange plate and the splicing seam of the web plate should be greater than 200mm.
